Well set to contest Velka Pardubicka

Enda Bolger has revealed that Punchestown Festival winner Freneys Well will be aimed at the Velka Pardubicka in October.

The JP McManus owned 10-year-old won the Irish Field Chase at Punchestown, having finished second in the La Touche Cup just two days earlier.

Bolger speaking exclusively to www.cdhorseracingtours.com said: "Freneys Well will definitely have an entry for the Velka Pardubicka. We are very keen to have another crack at the race in Pardubice and this will be his next target.

"We originally thought he might tackle the Prix Anjou-Loire Challenge (May 13) as his next race, but it has come too soon after having two races in two days.

"The plan will be to freshen him and prepare him for the race in October. It's part of the Crystal Cup series, which is something we're keen to support and have points on the board after winning the La Touche Cup.

"I'd imagine we'll also send over another horse with Freneys and that is likely to be Drombeag (who finished second to Freneys Well in the Irish Field Chase)."

Garde Champetre, a noticeable absentee from Punchestown is set to return to Cheltenham for the final race in the Crystal Cup - the Glenfarclas Cross Country Steeple Chase (December 13).

Bolger explained: "Garde Champetre was ready to go in the Irish Field Chase, but as the ground was little on the firm side and Freneys Well was in such good nick we decided we didn't need to use our super sub!"
