Tour Summary

Located in the Cotswolds we have put together a special package for anyone interested in horse racing – a fun and entertaining morning including breakfast, a trip to the gallops and an informative stable tour with Grade One winning-trainer Fergal O'Brien.

But don't just take our word for it ...

Just a quick email to thank you very much for organising our tour at Fergal O’Brien's yard - we had a fantastic morning - the weather was great and they were a lovey team of people - very friendly and welcoming. Breakfast at the Black Horse was excellent - thanks once again - a thoroughly enjoyable morning. Kay Lord and Adam Wood

Just a short message to say we had a great morning up at Fergal O' Brien's. We had some great weather and the spectacle of seeing the horses on the gallops and in their stables was superb. Derek and Kevin Knight

Tour History

Fergal, who has been based at Ravenswell Farm for just a few weeks, has trained over 200 winners and last season landed his first Grade One success with Poetic Rhythm.

Read all about his move to Ravenswel Farm

Fergal first took out a licence in 2011 and prior to starting out training on in his own right he has worked for some of the legends of National Hunt racing Captain Tim Forster, Ginger McCain then 19 years with Nigel Twiston-Davies.

Current stable stars include Poetic Rhythm, Perfect Candidate, Colin’s Sister, Barney Dwan and Mercy Mercy Me.

There is stabling for 70 horses in this very friendly, but professional and state-of-the-art training facility.

Tour Itinerary

Mondays and Fridays (September to April inclusive)

Start time: 7:15am (three-hour tour)

The fun starts the moment you arrive at Ravenswell Farm where the day commences with a trip to the gallops to watch the string being put through their paces at first hand.

You'll then enjoy an informative tour of the stable to gain an insiders' view to some of the equine stars 'looking over the doors' and you'll get a chance to ask Fergal about the workings of a racing yard and hear tales 'from the horse's mouth' from his colourful careers in the Sport of Kings.

Then it's time for a winning cooked breakfast (guaranteed to set you up for the day).

You will also receive a gift badge as a lasting memento of your visit.

For comfort and safety each tour is limited to groups of eight.

Under 16s must be accompanied by a participating adult.

Finally, remember to pack your wellington boots and some warm clothing.
