Tour Summary

Located in the Cotswolds we have put together a special package for anyone interested in horse racing – a fun and entertaining morning including breakfast, a trip to the gallops and an informative stable tour with trainer Martin Keighley.

Tour History

Martin has been based at Condicote Stables for over 10 years and trained nearly 250 winners, mainly over jumps, but a handful on the Flat too.

He trained his first Grade One race in 2013 with Annacotty in the Feltham Novices’ Chase at Kempton Park

Martin first took out at licence in 2005 and prior to starting out training he was a conditional jockey for both David Nicholson and Nigel Twiston-Davies and rode fast work on the likes of Viking Flagship and Barton Bank.

Before embarking on his training career Martin enjoyed a stint on the groundstaff team at Cheltenham Racecourse furthering his experience on ground conditions etc. and where he also learnt the art of fence building.

The yard does very well at their local track Cheltenham with 20 winners there including three doubles on the day and also Graded and Listed winners including Champion Court (Neptune Investment Management Novices’ Hurdle, Dipper Novices’ Steeple Chase and MacMillan Cancer Support Silver Trophy Chase).

Creepy (Neptune Investment Management Novices’ Hurdle).

Benbane Head (Majordoma Hospitality Handicap Chase).

Annacotty (Freebets.com Trophy Chase).

Brillare Momento (TB Breeders’ Association Mares’ Novices Hurdle).

Martin has also trained three Royal winners in the past 12 months with Somewhere To Be becoming Zara Tindall’s first homebred winner and then Chequered View becoming HRH The Princess Royal’s first winner in 31 years when she won over hurdles, this was quickly followed up by a win over fences.

Condicote Stables consists of 55 boxes and all of the horses are turned out in paddocks every day keeping them relaxed and happy. Martin is lucky enough to have arguably one of the best private gallops in the country with a stunning view.
